Pura Vida isn’t just a saying—it’s our way of life. In Costa Rica, 'Pura Vida' means 'pure life,' and we embrace it wholeheartedly. From our cheerful outlook to our laid-back lifestyle, we value the purest elements that make life truly worth living: the beauty of nature, deep connections with people, animals, and the land, unforgettable adventures, real food, incredible coffee, mouth-watering chocolate, and the vibrant sights and sounds that surround us. These are just some of the reasons Costa Rica is considered the happiest country in the world.

At Casa Nautika, 'home' means more than just a space—it’s a deep connection to this land. Whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or a blend of both, you’ll find it here in Costa Rica, and at Casa Nautika.

Dominical Has It All

Dominical is a charming Costa Rican beach village, celebrated for its world-class surf, stunning beaches, warm Pacific waters, vibrant markets, and local flair. There’s no shortage of activities—indulge in local and international cuisine, savor fresh, locally grown coffee and craft microbrews, take a surf or stand-up paddleboard lesson, kayak, practice yoga, dance ecstatically, enjoy live music, and explore unique art and handmade jewelry.

Surrounded by the lush biodiversity of the rainforest, Dominical offers countless bucket-list adventures too. Swim in pristine rivers, rappel down majestic waterfalls, paraglide from jungle to ocean, and soak in the sights and sounds of exotic nature, far removed from city life. After a day of adventure, relax in the peaceful comfort of Casa Nautika—your home away from home.

Dominical’s Local Wildlife

Dominical is also a haven for wildlife, thanks to its diverse ecosystems, including rainforests, mangroves, rivers, and coastal areas. The area is home to a variety of mammals such as white-faced capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, sloths, and coatis, along with the occasional anteater or armadillo.

Bird enthusiasts can spot vibrant scarlet macaws, chestnut-mandibled toucans, parrots, parakeets, and birds of prey like hawks and falcons. Reptiles and amphibians are also abundant, from green iguanas and basilisk lizards to red-eyed tree frogs and poison dart frogs, with the occasional sighting of boa constrictors or other snakes.

The coastal waters host marine life such as humpback whales (seen seasonally between July-November and December-March), spinner and bottlenose dolphins, and nesting sea turtles like the olive ridley and leatherback. The area also boasts a variety of insects, including the blue Morpho butterfly and leafcutter ants. Nearby rivers are home to fish like snook and snapper, as well as crocodiles and caimans, making Dominical a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

Sacred Medicine Ceremony*

  • For retreat facilitators looking to incorporate a sacred medicine ceremony into their guest experience, we coordinate sessions with highly experienced and trusted facilitators and space holders. To ensure your group receives the maximum healing benefit, we require all participants to engage in pre-ceremony preparation and post-ceremony integration support, unless they are already receiving this elsewhere.

Please note that depending on the specific medicine requested, many facilitators require advance notice (often 2 months or more), a 50% deposit to reserve the space, participant medical and intention questionnaires, and detailed planning discussions.
